Zimbabwe gets an average of 8.5 hours of usable sunshine per day, making it one of the best countries in southern Africa for solar power. But turning that sunlight into reliable electricity takes more than just putting panels on a roof. It takes proper system design, quality components and experienced installation.
That is what we do. Solar Zimbabwe designs and installs complete solar systems for residential homes, commercial buildings and agricultural properties across the country. Every system we install is sized to match your actual electricity usage, your roof layout and your budget.
We also repair and maintain existing systems. Whether your inverter has developed a fault, your panels need cleaning, or your batteries are no longer holding charge, our technicians will get your system back to full output.
Load shedding and rising ZESA tariffs have made solar power a practical decision rather than just an environmental one. A well-designed solar system pays for itself through electricity savings, typically within 3 to 5 years, and continues generating free power for 25 years or more after that.

Grid vs Solar: Making the Switch
ZESA currently supplies electricity at around USD 0.10 per kWh for residential customers, but frequent load shedding means most households and businesses already spend additional money on generators or backup systems. A solar system with battery storage eliminates generator fuel costs entirely and provides consistent power during outages. For a typical 4-bedroom home in Harare or Bulawayo, a 5kW solar system with a 10kWh lithium battery produces enough energy to run essential appliances 24 hours a day, including during 8 to 12 hour load shedding periods.
Return on Investment
At current ZESA rates and fuel costs, most residential solar systems in Zimbabwe pay for themselves within 3 to 5 years. Commercial installations with higher electricity consumption often see payback in 2 to 3 years. After that point, the electricity your system produces is essentially free. Solar panels are warrantied for 25 years and typically keep producing power well beyond that. Battery systems usually need replacing after 10 to 15 years depending on usage patterns.
Zimbabwe's Solar Potential
Zimbabwe receives between 2,000 and 2,200 kWh of solar radiation per square metre per year, placing it among the top 20 countries globally for solar energy potential. Even during the cloudiest months (December and January), daily solar irradiance remains above 4 kWh per square metre in most parts of the country. This means a properly designed solar system produces useful energy every single day of the year, though output varies seasonally by about 30%.
Why Choose Solar Power?
Energy Independence
Stop relying on the grid and eliminate load shedding from your life. Solar gives you control over your own power supply.
Lower Electricity Costs
Once installed, solar power is free. Most systems pay for themselves within 3 to 5 years and keep producing for 25 years or more.
Reliable Backup
Battery storage means your lights, fridge and security system stay on even during extended ZESA outages.
Clean Energy
Solar produces zero emissions. A standard home system prevents roughly 4 to 6 tonnes of CO2 per year compared to grid electricity.
